Features of U-shaped glass

1. U-shaped glass is lightweight, reducing the building’s dead load. Its slim profile can also increase usable floor area.

A red-brick wall weighs 350 kg per square metre, while a double-layer channel-glass wall weighs 40 kg per square metre. Channel glass reduces the structure’s dead load and eliminates the need to paint interior and exterior wall surfaces, significantly reducing project costs.

2. Sound and thermal insulation improve the indoor environment and save energy.

A double-row channel-glass wall has an air space between the layers that provides sound and thermal insulation. Its reported sound insulation is 38 decibels, and its heat transfer coefficient is 1.74 W/m2. K. Single-layer 6 mm glass has a heat transfer coefficient of 3.65 W/m2. K. Channel glass is therefore presented as a wall material for reducing building energy consumption.

3. An ideal light-transmitting wall material offering safety and corrosion resistance

U-shaped glass has high mechanical strength. Wired channel glass can improve safety when used in high-rise walls. Channel glass is stable in acidic, alkaline and humid environments, making it suitable for buildings requiring corrosion resistance. It is easy to assemble vertically or on a slope, in single or double rows, for walls or roofs. Large curtain walls increase the daylighting area while serving decorative and structural functions.

4.Easy to construct, economical and practical

Overseas, a double-layer vertical channel-glass curtain wall measuring 3m high and 10m long, with a total area of 30m2, can be installed by one person in just one hour.

Channel glass is a mid-range wall material. It can also replace conventional windows and skylights where daylight is needed without a clear view. It saves wood, steel and aluminum and can reduce costs by one-third.
