Advantages and features of U-shaped glass
U-shaped glass is a profiled glass widely used in buildings. Its U-shaped cross-section gives it greater mechanical strength than flat glass and permits larger installation spans, reducing the amount of framing required. It offers good light transmission and, when installed in double layers, good thermal and sound insulation. Straightforward installation and suitability for exterior walls, internal partitions, and facade decoration make it a useful building component.
U-shaped glass is a type of cast glass produced using a computer-controlled glass-melting furnace. Its strong structural form allows it to be installed in high-rise buildings and large areas requiring daylight without additional horizontal or vertical supports. Various installation methods provide daylighting, sound insulation and thermal insulation, making it an energy-saving glass option.
The U-shaped cross-section provides higher mechanical strength than ordinary flat glass, along with better sound and thermal insulation. It can reduce metal-framing requirements and simplify installation, making it suitable for interior and exterior walls, partitions, roofs, and windows. Although U-shaped glass is widely used, it is not always well understood. It can be classified by color, appearance, and reinforcement, including colorless and colored versions and wired and non-wired versions. Production methods include calendering, rolling, and casting, with calendering widely used. U-shaped glass therefore has broad applications in construction and industry in China.
