How to choose U-shaped glass
U-shaped glass curtain walls should use safety glazing. The listed options include toughened glass, laminated glass, insulating glass, fire-resistant glass, solar-control coated glass, and low-E coated glass. Selecting an appropriate shading method is important both for energy-efficient design and for meeting higher architectural design standards.
The detailed selection requirements are as follows:
1. Curtain wall should use safety glass, glass thickness not less than 6mm. All U-shaped glass curtain wall ribbed glass thickness should not be less than 12 mm.
2. When U-type glass curtain wall choose heat reflection coating glass, should choose vacuum magnetron cathode sputtering coating glass or on-line thermal spray coating glass. The appearance quality and technical specifications of float glass for heat reflection coating glass should meet the requirements of Grade I or Grade I in our current standard “Float glass glass”(GB11614) .
3. Curtain-wall insulating glass should use a dual-seal system.
Use polysulfide and butyl sealants for insulating glass in exposed-frame curtain walls, and structural silicone and butyl sealants for concealed-frame and semi-concealed-frame curtain walls. The coated surface should be the second or third surface of the insulating glass unit.
4. Curtain wall laminated glass should be made of dry process Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film. Laminated film (PVB) support point U-shaped glass curtain wall laminated glass thickness should not be less than 0.76 mm.
5. Toughened glass should meet all the requirements of GB9963 for toughened glass.
6.All curtain wall glazing shall be edge treated.
