What makes U-shaped glass difficult to temper?

2022-11-14 10:43

1. Strict standards

China has not issued a standard specifically for toughened U-shaped glass. To obtain CCC certification, it must comply with the national standard Safety Glass for Use in Buildings: Toughened Glass. Because the test methods primarily address flat glass, U-shaped glass must follow the full flat-glass test procedure. Meeting requirements for fixing methods, test fixtures, and calibration of special measuring tools presents a significant challenge.

2. Balance safety and dimensional requirements

The main challenge in tempering U-shaped glass is meeting both safety and dimensional requirements. Safety performance is assessed through impact resistance, fragmentation, and shot-bag impact tests. One particularly demanding impact test requires the glass to remain intact when struck by a 1040 g steel ball dropped from 1000 mm. Meeting the strength requirement requires thorough heating and rapid cooling. However, excessive heating can soften and deform the glass, while excessive cooling can distort its flanges. High-quality toughened U-shaped glass therefore requires a balanced process.

3. Equipment capability

Dedicated U-shaped glass tempering furnaces are rare in China and worldwide. Much of the U-shaped glass on the market is tempered in small furnaces whose stability and capacity make consistent quality difficult to achieve. Xiangjie uses an extra-large U-shaped glass tempering furnace with heating and cooling capacities exceeding the process requirements. Its highly automated production line controls key parameters and continuously monitors small process changes to maintain consistent finished-product quality.

4. Production experience

The control of the production of U-shaped glass sheets and sufficient experience in plate glass tempering are indispensable prerequisites for U-shaped glass tempering, at present has the U-type glass production and U-type glass toughening capacity of the manufacturers are not many. Cheung Chit manufactures calendering glass and toughened glass. Fully master the raw material ratio, calendering, annealing, edge grinding, toughening a full set of processes. Behind not only mature theoretical support, but also the British Peer Gynt continued to provide training and support. Years of continuous production, for Xiangjie reserve excellent talent, and accumulated valuable experience.

5. High standards for U-shaped glass

Because the national standard, the industry standard requirements are different, on the market products * to meet one or two standards at the same time. In order to make excellent products, u-glass has implemented strict internal control standards, the final product can meet the domestic standards related to u-glass.
